Elbow-type Pressure Balanced Expansion Joints use a bypass/balancing bellows connected through tie hardware around a 90° change in direction, so the pressure thrust is self-cancelled within the assembly. This enables absorption of thermal movement at an elbow while keeping anchor loads very low—ideal where structural limits prevent large fixed anchors or where thrust into equipment must be avoided. Designed and manufactured by Athulya Bellows per EJMA/ASME practices.
• Self-balancing of pressure thrust using a balancing bellows and tie system.
• Installed at a direction change (elbow/tee) to manage expansion without large anchors.
• Handles the required axial movement through the elbow; lateral/rotation restrained by design.
• Single or multi-ply bellows for flexibility and fatigue life.
• End connections: flanged or weld ends; drilling to ANSI/EN/IS or client standard.
• Optional internal flow liner for high-velocity or particulate media.
• Steam, hot air, and process lines at elbows where anchors cannot take thrust.
• Pump/turbine connections and equipment nozzles needing low external loads.
• Refineries, petrochemical & chemical plants; power, steel & cement process piping.
• District heating/cooling mains and manifolds with constrained support structures.
